The Location
Sylt is the best known holiday destination within Germany if you ask people from Berlin to Munich. Also a lot of people living in Hamburg are travelling there for a weekend trip. Westerland is the main town of the island wich is connected via a car train (if travelling from south) and ferry (if travelling from north or with big caravans). The “Brandenburger Strand” is the most frequented beach on the island because it offers easy access via “Promenade” from the town center and the pedestrian area of “Strandstrasse”. The “promenade” works as a huge stage for the visitors coming as close to the athletes as possible.

By Plane

You can book a direct flight to Westerland Airport (GWT) wich in 5 Minutes driving distance to the event area. It's around 10€ from the Sylt airport to “Kurpromenade” or “Brandenburger Platz”.

Most commonly you will choose Hamburg (HAM) and Luebeck Airport connect (Ryan Air)

By Car

FROM HAMBURG (alternative 1):

• A7 to Flensburg

• B199 to Niebüll

FROM HAMBURG (alternative 2):

• A23 to Heide
• In Heide, take B5 to Niebüll

From there you follow the signs to Autozug / SyltShuttle

Travelling by car you will have to use the “DB SyltShuttle” wich takes you and your car: We can provide you with a special code with a 50% discount for DB AutoZug SyltShuttle. By Train

Westerland is easy accessible with Deutsche Bahn (www.bahn.de) from stations all over Germany (also from Frankfurt/Main within 5 hours)

HAM airport Transfer to train:

- Train S1, direction Ohlsdorf / Blankenese every 10 min; duration half hour

- At Hamburg Altona railwaystation get a ticket for Hamburg Altona to Westerland at the Information desk

- Train Hamburg Altona – Westerland (duration 2,5 hours, from 06.00 to 20.00 h every hour)

By Ferry
From the Danish island Rømø, you can take the ferry from Havneby to List in Sylt. Information on prices and timetable are available at www.sylt-faehre.de

Accommodation / Parking

Do early reservation – Sylt has “Sylter Preise” which means if you look for a hotel 2 days before the event you can easily spend 200€ for a single bed room – per night. But: There are also reasonable accommodations.

If staying in you car you should use the camping. We will offer free option to stay the night at “Uthlandstrasse” there are toilets, but no electricity. Showers are on the parking area near the event. Important: If you spend the night at the parking – at you own risks in terms of fines.
