Kitesurf World Cup Sylt - June 28th to July 03rd, 2011

The Kitesurf World Cup Course Racing brings the best riders to the beautiful island of Sylt, Germany. Sylt has been a stop for international kitesurfing and windsurfing events for many years and has proven to be one of the best locations worldwide. Riders from all over the world will compete for the title of World Champion Kitesurf Course Racing in one single event between June 28th and July 03rd, 2011.

Sylt

For many riders, the Kitesurf World Cup in Sylt / Germany will be the highlight of the season. The beautiful island of Sylt is the most popular surf spot in Germany and every year the world's best windsurfer come to Sylt to battle each other at the Windsurf Worldcup. Since 2009, the Kitesurf World Cup is carried out here and thousands of visitors come to the event every year.

The Location

Sylt is the most famous island in Germany with a beautiful landscape. The
event area will be at the Brandenburger Strand in the heart of  Westerland.
Here, the “promenade” works as a huge stage for the visitors coming as close to the athletes as possible.

The Spot

The main wind direction in June is West / South West, which means onshore / side onshore. The conditions are generally choppy and depending on the Wind's strength, the waves can be 0,5m to 3m high. The waves are the most powerful ones in Germany because of the North Sea stepping quickly into deep water.
